Chemistry, 100 years ahead
on key factors for the industrial
competitiveness

“In these 100 years everything has
changed, but not the chemical in-
dustry's ability to anticipate chal-
lenges which might involve the in-
dustry as a whole. These are really
audacious choices in strategic areas
such as research, sustainability, industrial relations.” With these words, Cesare Puccioni, President of Federchimica commented in his report the role of the chemical industry and of the Federation, which celebrated with the General Meeting 2016 its one hundred years of activity. "Our history is strongly interwoven with the industrial, economic and social development of the country, with great changes but also with relevant elements of continuity.
Chemistry is "change": of the material, production process- es, products and of the quality of life; it changes itself and causes changes in others; furthermore it needs an Associ- ation which is ahead of time."
The chemical industry has been the first to introduce those innovations which can radically change the entire production, to give rise to innovation trends also in the society and to create progress, not just the economic one.
“In questi 100 anni tutto è cambiato, ma non la capacità dell’industria chimica di anticipare le sfide destinate a diven- tare proprie di tutta l’industria. Scelte coraggiose in ambiti strategici come la ricerca, la sostenibilità, le relazioni indu- striali”. Così Cesare Puccioni, Presidente di Federchimica, ha commentato nella sua Relazione il ruolo dell’industria chimica e della Federazione, che ha festeggiato con l’As- semblea 2016 i suoi cento anni di attività. “La nostra storia si intreccia indissolubilmente con lo sviluppo industriale, economico e sociale del Paese, con profondi cambiamenti ma anche forti elementi di continuità.
La Chimica è “cambiamento”: della materia, dei processi produt- tivi, dei prodotti, della qualità della vita; cambia se stessa e fa cam- biare gli altri e ha bisogno di un’Associazione che anticipi i tempi”.
