■ Cardolite launched NX-5607 and NX-5608 high performance phenalkamine epoxy curing agents to address new trends in the develop- ment of structural adhesives. Leveraging the inherent benefits of cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) derived materials, these curing agents were designed to satisfy the challenging performance and regulatory requirements of the adhesive industry including: solvent-free and label-friendly formulations, fast processing, excellent adhesion between new construction materials, and increased durability. As many industries move to lighter weight ma- terials, the next generation of structural adhesives is expected to be ver- satile and deliver the same

Con un numero crescen- te di industrie che si convertono all’utilizzo di materiali più leggeri, gli adesivi strutturali di prossima generazione saranno più versa- tili e offriranno lo stesso grado di adesione dei materiali più leggeri come è per l’acciaio. Fornendo alta adesione e tenacità meccanica ai giunti fra vari compositi, come i substrati di alluminio e di plastica, NX-5607 e NX-5608 permettono l’uso dello stesso adesivo in svariate parti di una struttura. Questi prodotti presentano anche alte temperature
di transizione vetrosa per resistere alle sollecitazioni esterne e un’ec- cellente idrofobia per ridurre al minimo l’assorbimento di umidità. Queste due caratteristiche forni- scono legami più duraturi che a loro volta danno prodotti più sostenibili. Sebbene agli adesivi strutturali si richiedano nuovi livelli prestaziona- li, i produttori di adesivi continuano a far fronte alla costante esigenza di ridurre i costi e di utilizzare pro- dotti chimici atossici ed ecocom- patibili. Sono prodotti caratterizzati da capacità leganti molto veloci anche a temperature basse e con- dizioni di elevata umidità per un risparmio di tempo e di denaro e superiore produttività. Con il loro utilizzo viene ampliato il ventaglio di applicazioni e si riduce il rischio di una degradazione dell’adesivo causata da condizioni ambientali non controllate.
Per affrontare il problema della tossicità e l’esigenza di ridurre le emissioni di composti organi- ci volatili (VOC), questi prodotti non contengono solventi, fenoli o benzil alcoli. Commercializzati e prodotti da Cardolite da più di un anno, NX-5607 e NX-5608 sono stati introdotti con successo nelle formulazioni di adesivi per automobili, d’uso industriale, per costruzioni, per riparazioni e per attività di manutenzione.

Although new levels of performance are demanded from structural adhe- sives, the adhesive industry continues to face pressure to reduce costs and use non-toxic, consumer-friendly chemicals. NX-5607 and NX-5608’s fast bond strength development, even at low temperatures and high humidity, offers both time and cost savings by increasing productivity, widening the application window, and lowering the risk of adhesion failure due to uncon- trollable environment conditions. To meet rising toxicity concerns and lower volatile organic compound (VOC) emission targets, these products contain no solvents, phenols, or benzyl alcohol.
Marketed and volume produced by Cardolite for over a year, NX-5607 and NX- 5608 have been successfully formulated in adhesives for automotive, industri- al, field-applied construction, rapid-set repair, and maintenance applications. Cardolite's products are distributed in Italy by Dolder Massara.
